Glamour honoree Selena Gomez splits with Justin Bieber

Young lovers Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have reportedly split up, due to the conflicting demands of their busy careers. [Los Angeles Times]

The news broke on the day Gomez was being honored as one of Glamour’s Women of the Year at a fete in New York’s Carnegie Hall, where Ethan Hawke presented her with the Independent Spirit Award. Among other honorees were actress Lena Dunham, photographer Annie Liebovitz, J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. [Huffington Post]

Barney’s New York is to unveil its holiday windows at its flagship in Manhattan on Wednesday. A short animated film done in collaboration with Disney is to play in loops on the building facade. It stars Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse and features Donald Duck and cartoon versions of fashion stars including Nicolas Ghesquiere, Sarah Jessica Parker, Suzy Mekes, Linda Evangelista, Franca Sozzani, Anna Della Russo and, of course, Lady Gaga. Livia Firth’s efforts to promote a more sustainable fashion industry were recognized by the United Nations, which named her a Leader of Change for 2012. The wife of actor Colin Firth, she started the Green Carpet Challenge to persuade celebrities to wear sustainable designs on red carpets, and she founded Eco Age, a store that features so-called ethical design. Anne Hathaway is on the cover of Vogue’s December issue and inside she talks about her gorgeous Valentino wedding gown and her demanding role as Fantine in the upcoming film version of “Les Miserables.” She had to chop off her hair for the role, and she’s still wearing it short and liking it. When Victoria’s Secret shot its annual fashion show last week, word and pictures came out that one of the outfits Karlie Kloss wore was a skimpy fringed number with a feathered American Indian war bonnet. This sparked backlash from Native Americans and non-Native Americans sensitive to the stereotypical portrayal, and now Victoria’s Secret and Kloss have issued apologies and say the video has been cut from the show, scheduled to air on CBS Dec. 4.
