Binge drinking for grown-ups: How to participate in the Bloody Mary Battle
When you’re past the age of 25, binge drinking starts earlier in the day and it involves more Bloody Marys and mimosas and fewer vodka Redbulls. Because then you slide into bed at 9 p.m. after hours of day drinking and wake up the next morning actually feeling refreshed.
If you’re looking to become more of a Bloody Mary aficionado than you already are (you go, you!), here’s how you can drink five Bloody Marys in one day and become a Bloody Mary competition judge.
Del Frisco’s Grille in Santa Monica and Tito’s Vodka are hosting the first Bloody Mary Battle on June 28. And because Bloody Marys were made for day drinking, the competition will take place from noon to 2 p.m.
Bartenders from Del Frisco’s Grille, The Lobster, Lago, Areal and Blue Plate Taco will present their versions of the classic drink for the competition. Attendees will be able to try all five, and vote on their favorites, for $20.
The fan favorite, along with some input from the official judges, will determine the Bloody Mary Battle winner. A portion of the proceeds will benefit a charity of the winning bartender’s choice, and Tito’s will match the donation.
So not only are you drinking five Bloody Marys on a Sunday, you’re doing it for a good cause.
Please note, we are aware of the dangers of binge drinking and don’t encourage people to finish all five Bloody Marys. Also, have your designated driver ready.
