Brendan Collins takes over the kitchen at Corner Door in Culver City

Share

Just months after opening Birch in Hollywood, Brendan Collins is headed back to Culver City, sort of. Collins and chef de cuisine Ali Haji are taking over the kitchen at the Corner Door.

Collins, known for the recently shuttered Waterloo & City in Culver City, will be executive chef at the Corner Door and will be in the kitchen at least once a week. The remainder of his time will be spent at Birch.

In his absence, Haji will helm the kitchen.

“It is a close-knit community, and all the restaurants are friends with each other,” Collins said in a release. “I lived and worked in Culver City for seven years and wanted to keep a connection with the neighborhood.”

The new menu is broken into three categories -- snacks, plates and sweets -- and designed to highlight the bar’s extensive cocktail menu.

Highlights include the French fries carbonade, with beer-braised beef, farmhouse cheese and a roasted garlic aioli; spicy fried chicken with cucumber and cilantro yogurt; chicken liver and foie gras mousse; lobster and shrimp Bolognese; fish and chips; and sticky toffee pudding.

Former Corner Door chefs include Luke Reyes, now at Butchers and Barbers, and Kyle Schutte, currently working on opening his first restaurant the Flats.

The Corner Door is open from 5 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
