Jay Z buys Armand de Brignac Champagne brand
Music mogul Jay Z and his wife, Beyonce, like expensive French bubbly. So much so that Jay Z decided to buy the Armand de Brignac champagne brand, which sells its bottles of champagne for $300 a pop.
Remember the Ace of Spades champagne Jay Z flaunted in his 2006 video “Show Me What You Got?” And the $105,000 wall of glowing gold bottles from that swanky fundraiser he and Beyonce hosted for President Barack Obama? It’s that one.
New York-based wine and spirits company Sovereign Brands recently sold the champagne brand to Jay Z for an undisclosed amount.
The champagne is made at a family-run vineyard in Chigny-les-Roses, France, by the Cattier family, which employs a staff of fewer than 20 people.
The French bubbly is just the latest addition to the rapper’s growing brand of food and liquor. He also owns The 40/40 Club, a sports bar and lounge in New York City where Jay Z and Beyonce threw the $40,000 per person fundraiser for the president.
Jay Z also helped launch D’usse cognac in 2012.
