Oktoberfest on tap at Rockenwagner, Lucques, Bar Bouchon and in Ojai

Still haven’t firmed up your Oktoberfest plans? Here are some more options.

Cafe Rockenwagner’s annual party is in full swing, featuring an updated German menu, stein-hoisting contests, and cookie decorating. It runs through Oct. 26. Appetizers include red cabbage fritters, an “Obatza” plate with soft cheese, radishes and pretzel, trout roulade, and bratwurst, weisswurst and leberkas sausages. Entrees include wiener schnitzel, jager schnitzel, chicken in mushroom cream sauce and a grilled sausage platter. 1168 S. Barrington Ave., Los Angeles, (310) 478-6313, www.rockenwagner.com.

Lucques restaurant has a special Oktoberfest menu Sunday night featuring early fall dishes paired with German bottled beers and seasonal drafts, as well as German and Austrian wines, and a special mint schnapps made by “head bar-man” Christian Rollich. The planned menu includes a warm potato salad with whole-grain mustard and caraway, grilled and pan-roasted house-made sausages with roasted apples and sauerkraut, smoked ham hocks braised in beer, herbed spaetzle with wild mushrooms, winter squash and chestnuts, rye bread and pretzels with horseradish and mustard and a pear and walnut crumble tart. If you’re feeling more like an outdoor feast, the Ojai Beverage Co. is holding its big Oktoberfest party under a big tent at its store just outside of downtown Ojai. There’ll be beer, food, games and German dancing from 1 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $6 and over 21 years of age only. 655 E. Ojai Ave., Ojai, (805) 646-1700, www.ojaibevco.com.

Bar Bouchon is having an Oktoberfest celebration Wednesday to Sunday with German beer and bratwurst. Beers include Weheinstephaner Hefe-Weissbier, Hofbraü Oktoberfest, Victory Festbier on draft and more. There will also be plenty of bratwurst with braised cabbage.
