50 Shades of Food: Yearning for the ice cream man

Share

Pull up a chair and settle in for our 50 Shades of Food series, where we introduce you to mouthwatering, shiver-inducing, hot, sexy food porn. It’s safe-for-work browsing, sure to get your heart racing and your palms a little sweaty, and the only drawback is a possible hunger pang or two after viewing.

For many young foodies-in-training, the ice cream man was not only a summer fling, he was a first love. He was there with his truck when you needed him, and it was easy to spend hours fantasizing about all the Popsicles and ice cream sandwiches. One note of song from an approaching truck hastened a heart beat.

Everyone had a favorite treat; my choice was almost exclusively the Good Humor strawberry shortcake ice cream bar. For Karen, who writes the blog Tasty Trials, the must-have from her ice cream man was a Choco Taco.

“There is no doubt that I loved the ice cream man with a capital L when I was young,” wrote Karen on her blog. “Among the missile pops and ice cream sandwiches sat the Choco Tacos, which to me were the stuff dreams were made of. I would gladly pony up a week’s allowance for one of those heavenly tacos.”

Now that Karen’s an adult, she still loves Choco Tacos; she just realized making her own, pictured above, is the way to go. It’s always nice to see a childhood love last.
