Pink Apron dinner at Hatfield’s; L.A. Beer Week; Grenache Day

Pink Apron dinner: The first annual Pink Apron dinner, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, takes place Monday, Oct. 8, hosted by Hatfield’s pastry chef Karen Hatfield. The Pink Apron menu will be prepared by chefs Mary Sue Milliken (Border Grill), Sherry Yard (Spago Beverly Hills), Suzanne Tracht (Jar), Dakota Weiss (NINETHIRTY at W Los Angeles), Nyesha Arrington (Wilshire Restaurant) and Hatfield. In conjunction with the dinner, writer Charlotte Druckman will be signing copies of her forthcoming book, “Skirt Steak,” which will be available for purchase that evening. All proceeds from the Pink Apron dinner will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Five-course menu: $110 per person (plus optional wine pairings for an additional fee). L.A. Beer Week: The 4th Annual L.A. Beer Week takes place Sept. 20 to 30, promoting the city’s breweries, bars and restaurants serving local craft beer and locally available brews. Events take place throughout Los Angeles, including a homebrew session at Wurstkuche in Venice, all-you-can-eat fried chicken with a Beachwood Brewing beer at Eva restaurant, SchneiderFest at Congregation Ale House in Long Beach, a brewers dinner at Kinetic Brewing Co., and much more. Beer Week is capped by a Beer Festival at historic Union Station in downtown on Sunday, Sept. 30, from noon to 4 p.m., with more than 70 craft and artisan breweries pouring a wide array of beers, a few available only for L.A. Beer Week.

Grenache Day: The Rhone Rangers organization celebrates International Grenache Day on Sept. 21 with regional events in Paso Robles, Sacramento, Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa and a live Twitter tasting hosted by Rhone Ranger pioneers including Jason Haas of Tablas Creek Vineyard and Randall Grahm of Bonny Doon Vineyard.
