In celebration of Chinese New Year, the Hammer Museum published Los Angeles Times restaurant critic Jonathan Gold‘s picks for the best regional Chinese food in Los Angeles. It’s your map to the San Gabriel Valley by regional cuisine.

Beijing style: Beijing Pie House, 846 E. Garvey Ave., Monterey Park. Try the lamb pie and pan-fried meat cake.

Chengdu style: Lucky Noodle King, 534 E. Valley Blvd., #10, San Gabriel, (626) 573-5668, www.luckynoodleking.com. Try the dan dan mian and house-cured Sichuan sausage.

Chongqing style: Chung King Restaurant, 1000 S. San Gabriel Blvd., San Gabriel, (626) 286-0298. Try thy Chongqing fried chicken and water-boiled fish.

Dalian style: Tasty Noodle House, 827 W. Las Tunas Drive, San Gabriel, (626) 284-8898. Try the marinated jellyfish head and oyster, cabbage and pickled napa dumpling.

Hangzhou style: Chang’s Garden, 627 W. Duarte Road, Arcadia. Try fried fish with seaweed, dong po pork and spareribs steamed in lotus leaves.

Hong Kong style: Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant, 3939 Rosemead Blvd., Rosemead, (626) 288-3939. Try the dim sum and live seafood.

Hunan style: Hunan Seafood Restaurant, 8772 Valley Blvd., Rosemead, (626) 280-8389. Try the steamed fish head with chile and “Mao’s pork.”

Nanjing style: Nanjing Kitchen, 706 W. Las Tunas Ave., San Gabriel, (626) 281-8968. Try the Nanjing duck and dry jingsu noodles with pork shank.

Shanghai style: Shanghai No. 1 Seafood, 250 W. Valley Blvd., San Gabriel, (626) 282-1777. Old Shanghai braised pork, sheng jian bao (pan fried pork buns) and stone pot fried rice.

Shanxi style: JTYH Market and Restaurant, 9425 Valley Blvd., Rosemead, (626) 442-8999. Pan-fried bao and dao xiao mian (fried hand-shaved noodles) with mu shu.

Shenyang style: Shen Yang Restaurant, 137 S. San Gabriel Blvd., No. A, San Gabriel, (626) 292-5758. Fried chicken bones and Jindong meat pie.

Wuxi style: Wang Xing Ji, 140 W. Valley Blvd., San Gabriel, (626) 307-1188. Try the cold smoked fish and juicy crab and pork bun.

Xi’an style: Shaanxi Gourmet, 8158 Valley Blvd., San Gabriel. Try the yang rou pao mo (lamb soup with torn bread) and big plate chicken.

Xinjiang style: Omar’s Xinjiang Halal, 1718 N. New Ave., San Gabriel, (626) 570-9778. Mutton kebabs and hand-pulled noodles.

Yunnan Style: Yun Chuan Garden, 301 N. Garfield Ave., Monterey Park, (626) 571-8387. Crossing-the-bridge noodles and “spicy with spicy.”

Wuhan style: Tasty Dining, 301 W. Valley Blvd., San Gabriel, (626) 570-1234. Re gan mian (hot, dry sesame noodles) and dry pot with frog.
