Gluten-free beer and wine now available at Addiction Bistro

The Addiction Bistro, a West Hollywood cafe known for its house-made gluten-free food, has added alcohol to the menu, owner Richard Foster tells us.
Green’s Amber Ale, which is made with sorghum rather than barley, sells for $10 and has been popular, Foster says. The cafe -- as of last weekend -- also is selling wine and a gluten-free hard cider. Beers with gluten are also on the menu.
Foster and co-owner Johnny Kovin, the chef, don’t eat gluten, and their cafe began the way many gluten-free businesses have started: by people who were frustrated with the choices available to them. They decided to open a place where they and other people like them can eat without worry of getting sick.
The cafe serves house-made condiments and sausages, cupcakes, chili and other foods. The name? It refers to how you’ll feel after you taste their food.
And Green’s? Its website notes that the founder was diagnosed with celiac disease, meaning no gluten can be eaten. Its Amber Ale is brewed in Belgium and was developed in collaboration with the Belgian brewer DeProef.
