WestEdge design show launches in Santa Monica

Share

WestEdge, the Santa Monica expo that aims to pull the focal point of the nation’s design industry another step west, opens Friday with a roster of top brands showing their latest offerings: Ligne Roset, Bertazzoni, Holly Hunt, David Trubridge. Bosch, Gaggenau, Thermador. Linea, Royal Botania and Muuto.

More? Savoir Beds, the firm known for its custom, handcrafted mattresses made of lamb’s wool, cashmere and other luxe materials, will be there. So will the Norweigan furniture firm Stokke, which is showing its collaboration with designer Chris Barrett.

The launch of WestEdge follows the establishment of the Dwell on Design show in Los Angeles as a fixture on the summer calendar and the growing clout of the Las Vegas Market in the home accessories trade. Meanwhile, some designers have cited the waning influence of the furniture market in High Point, N.C., and niche trade shows such as the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show.
