This is one awards show that is nothing if not thorough: Wednesday night’s telecast from Staples Center will mark the climax of voting in 108 musical categories. They even differentiate between Best Pop Album and Best Traditional Pop Album—though most of us would be hard-pressed to define that difference. It’s fitting the show embraces so much, taking place as it does in a city where you can hear it all, and where the performers range from ambitious hell-raisers to more unassuming souls. For Angelenos, that means the music won’t stop even when the show is over.
