Letters: What a ride
Re “One-track mind hits new height,” Column One, March 25
What a cool story about the Cyclone Racer on the Pike.
When I was a kid in the late 1950s (I’m 71), a few friends and I would take the ferry from San Pedro to Terminal Island and hitchhike the rest of the way to the Pike.
If we couldn’t find a hole in the fence surrounding the Cyclone Racer, we would make one so we could look for change that had fallen from riders. We would use that to ride the roller coaster ourselves or for other attractions on the Pike. Ultimately we got nabbed by authorities — but that’s another story.
