Mideast conference: In the Jan. 16 Section A, an article about a conference in Paris on Mideast peace said that a declaration issued by the conference called on Israel “to withdraw to its 1967 borders, as required by United Nations resolutions.” The declaration did not explicitly mention the borders, although it called for adherence to U.N. Resolution 242, which states that peace in the Middle East should be based, in part, on Israel’s withdrawal “from territories occupied” in the 1967 war. The meaning of the resolution has been hotly disputed, and Israel maintains that it does not require a withdrawal to the 1967 borders.

Obama’s legacy: In the Jan. 14 Section A, an article about a widening of the partisan divide during President Obama’s tenure said that in the 2010 midterm election, Republicans gained control of both houses of Congress. Republicans gained control of the House, but not the Senate. Also, Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) was referred to as a committee chairman. He was the senior Republican member on the panel.
