Underrated/Overrated: In the Underrated/Overrated feature in the Aug. 21 Calendar section, an item about the marketing campaign for FX’s “American Horror Story” indicated that participants could sign up friends and family for an in-home surprise scare from the show’s cast. People may sign up only themselves for this experience.

Iranian pop music: An article in the Aug. 21 Arts & Books section about pre-revolutionary Iranian pop music described the santur as being an instrument like a violin. It more closely resembles a hammered dulcimer.

Leonard Slatkin: An article in the Aug. 21 Arts & Books section about conductor Leonard Slatkin said he graduated from Hollywood High School; it was Los Angeles High School. Also, Slatkin misspoke when he said he gave up his title as music director while the Detroit Symphony Orchestra was on strike in 2010. He remains in that position.
