Cudahy ruling: An article in the Feb. 21 LATExtra section about a judge’s ruling regarding the hiring of a law firm by the Cudahy City Council said L.A. County Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley is a defendant in a whistleblower lawsuit filed by former Deputy Dist. Atty. Matthew Monforton. Cooley is not a defendant in the lawsuit.

Book prizes: An article in the Feb. 22 Calendar section about finalists for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize said one of the biography finalists was Edmund Morris’ “Colonel Morris.” The title is “Colonel Roosevelt.”

Kobe Bryant honored: In the Feb. 20 California section, a caption accompanying a photo of the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant imprinting his feet and hands in cement outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood said that he was the first athlete to be so honored. Retired Olympic figure skater Sonja Henie was honored at Grauman’s in 1937, shortly after she started her Hollywood film career, and left her handprints and the imprint of her skating blades.

“Anna Nicole” review: In a review of the new opera “Anna Nicole” in the Feb. 19 Calendar section, soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek, who sang Anna, was described as Danish. She is Dutch.

Randy Newman: An article about singer-songwriter Randy Newman in the Feb. 18 Calendar section said that he has been writing movie music for nearly 30 years. In fact, it’s 40: His first score was for “Cold Turkey” in 1971. The story also identified the title of his Oscar-nominated song from “Toy Story” as “You’ve Got a Friend.” The correct title is “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”

Marc Masterson: An article in the Feb. 19 Calendar section about Marc Masterson’s appointment as the next artistic director of South Coast Repertory gave the wrong title for a play by William Shakespeare. The correct title is “The Comedy of Errors,” not “A Comedy of Errors.”

Polk Awards: An article in the Feb. 22 LATExtra section about the Los Angeles Times’ winning a George Polk Award for its coverage of the city of Bell incorrectly referred to the American Society of News Editors by its former name, the American Society of Newspaper Editors.
