Japan tourism: An article in the March 8 Business section about the rebound of Japan’s tourism industry said that Japan’s Tourism Agency sought to boost tourism by giving away free airfare to 10,000 visitors to the country. In fact, Japan’s government has rejected funding the free airfare and the promotion has been scrapped.

Arctic drilling: An article in the March 4 Section A about oil exploration off the Alaska coast said that Shell’s drilling program would eventually add 500,000 gallons a day of oil to the Trans-Alaska pipeline. The correct figure is 500,000 barrels a day.

Gay marriage: An article in the March 4 Section A about how personal stories have proved effective in winning approval for same-sex marriage said voters in North Carolina would decide on a gay marriage initiative in the fall. The election will be held May 8.

LACMA rock: An article in Section A on March 9 about a 340-ton boulder drawing crowds as it is transported from the Inland Empire to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art listed La Palma among the cities where the rock had stopped. It was La Mirada.

Robert Temple Ayres: In the March 9 LATExtra section, a photo that accompanied the obituary of Robert Temple Ayres was credited to the Autry National Center. The photo, which showed the artist in front of one of his western landscape paintings, should have been credited to Don Richards.

Tortoises and solar power: In the March 4 Section A, an article about solar energy projects being built in desert tortoise habitat said that construction on BrightSource Energy’s Ivanpah project was brought to a standstill for three months by issues involving the tortoise. Construction stopped on some areas of the site but continued on others.
