Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Laytonville, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Friday evening four miles from Laytonville, Calif., about 160 miles north of San Francisco, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:29 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 44 miles from Ukiah, California, 66 miles from Fortuna, California, 72 miles from Clearlake, California and 135 miles from Sacramento, California.

In the past ten days, there have been two earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
