Lifeguards rescued five people from a burning sailboat off Venice Beach on Saturday afternoon, officials said.
Rescuers plucked the people from the boat, which was about 100 feet off shore, according to Supervisor Bernard Peters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The department initially said six people were rescued. ABC7 reported that an infant was among those rescued.
The emergency call came in about 3:10 p.m., Peters said. Crews extinguished the blaze in about 25 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
The fire's cause is under investigation.
