Aeromexico jet blows tires, closes runway at LAX
A runway at Los Angeles International Airport was closed Saturday morning after an Aeromexico jet blew two tires just before takeoff.
None of the about 130 people on board Aeromexico Flight 18 were injured when the pilot aborted takeoff about 6:30 a.m., said Los Angeles World Airport spokeswoman Amanda Parsons.
The pilot was able to safely halt the takeoff and bring the aircraft to rest on the runway.
The aircraft remained on the runaway at about 10:30 a.m. as airport officials worked to have it towed. Passengers were bused to a gate to be rebooked for later flights.
No departing flights have been affected by the incident.
