Authorities said Wednesday they are trying to confirm the identity of a man whose body was found floating in the ocean off Long Beach.
It was not immediately known how long the body had been in the water before Long Beach police removed it around 6:40 a.m. near Pier J, officials said.
Police said they were alerted to the body by a person who saw it from a passing boat.
Long Beach police detectives and Los Angeles County coroner officials were investigating the cause of death, according to police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
