A onetime Burbank High School girls volleyball coach was sentenced Tuesday to 90 days in jail after pleading no contest to having a sexual relationship with a former student, officials said.

Kyle Roach, 28, pleaded no contest to one count of oral copulation of a minor, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. Roach, who is due to turn himself in next month, also was sentenced to five years’ probation.

Charges of child molestation were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

The coach was arrested in June after two students told authorities that they had received anonymous messages that they believed came from Roach requesting nude photos of themselves, police said at the time. The students were 16 and 17 years old.

The investigation revealed that Roach had an ongoing sexual relationship in 2010 with a former student while she was a minor. The woman is now an adult and no longer attends Burbank High.

Last year, the school district decided not to renew Roach’s contract, according to Burbank Unified Superintendent Matt Hill.
