Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating a Tuesday night shooting in Carson that left a man dead and a woman injured.
Detectives believe the shooting was gang-related, Deputy Irys Alvarez said Wednesday.
Alvarez said the shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m. as a group of people were “hanging out” on the sidewalk at the intersection of 169th Street and Billings Drive. An SUV drove by and someone inside fired “numerous rounds” at the gathering before driving off.
The man who was struck was pronounced dead at a hospital and the woman was treated for a non-life-threatening wound, Alvarez said. Their names were not released.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
