Work on Hollywood gas leak expected to continue till midnight
Southern California Gas Co. workers are continuing to work on repairing a ruptured gas line in Hollywood and expect to have it fixed by midnight.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said the leak -- reported around 11:30 a.m. Saturday at North Cahuenga Blvd near the 101 Freeway -- led to the evacuation of six buildings and 100 people.
Scott said the evacuees were being sheltered at a nearby recreation center, and buses were provided to take them there. He said he expected they would be allowed back into their homes soon after midnight.
No injuries were reported.
