Two people were killed Wednesday after a gunman opened fire at a Harbor City fast-food restaurant, authorities said.
The shooting was reported about 9:30 a.m. at a strip mall near Normandie Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, according to Los Angeles police Officer Sal Ramirez.
Police told KTLA-TV Channel 5 that the gunman walked into Bob’s Hamburgers, a longtime local restaurant, and opened fire.
Det. Dave Cortez told the news station that the restaurant’s owner was struck by stray gunfire.
One person died at the scene, and a second person died after being taken to a hospital, LAPD Capt. Phil Tingirides said.
It’s unclear what motivated the shooting.
The names of the two people killed were not released pending formal notification by the L.A. County coroner’s office.
