Homeless man asked to stop urinating stabs two men, police say
A 49-year-old man unsheathed a folding knife and stabbed two men in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district after the pair asked him to stop urinating at a construction site, police said Tuesday.
Ray Alton Moore, a transient, was booked into San Francisco County jail on suspicion of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, said San Francisco police spokesman Albie Esparza.
Three construction workers saw Moore urinating on a truck parked at the site near Geary and Larkin streets around 2 p.m. Monday, officials said. When the workers approached Moore, they asked him to stop urinating, and he allegedly pulled out a knife.
“He stabbed one [man] in the arm, and another in the upper arm,” Esparza said.
One of the victims, a 37-year-old man, was treated at a nearby hospital and later released. Police said the second victim, a 27-year-old man, suffered from life-threatening injuries because he was stabbed “multiple times,” Esparza confirmed.
Witnesses gave detailed descriptions of the suspect over cellphones, and police were able to find Moore not far from the scene.
Police also recovered the knife suspected of being used in the attacks, Esparza said.
