Authorities have arrested a man who they say punched a Long Beach gas station clerk in the face in a dispute over 41 cents.

Kendrick Ruth, 35, allegedly punched the clerk at a Chevron gas station in the 4900 block of Lakewood Boulevard on Sept. 7 after he was told the price of a Swisher Sweets cigar was $1.41 and he was 41 cents short, according to KCBS-TV and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“Just happened so fast ... I didn’t think he was going to hit me ... and he just like socks me,” the unidentified clerk told KCBS.
