An adult was hit and killed Friday afternoon by a Riverside-bound Metrolink train in Boyle Heights, officials said.
The unidentified victim was hit about 4:25 p.m. near the Fourth Street bridge over the Los Angeles River by Train 404, said Jeff Lustgarten, Metrolink spokesman.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, he said. The victim’s name and gender have not been released.
It is unclear why the person was on the tracks.
There were fewer than 400 passengers on the train, Lustgarten said. No other injuries were sustained.
Los Angeles police are investigating the incident.
