Homicide detectives investigate Montebello shooting death

Homicide detectives late Wednesday were investigating the shooting death of a 25-year-old man in Montebello.
Police responded to a call of shots fired near Sycamore and South Spruce streets, and found the victim was in a vehicle that had smashed into a telephone pole, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing the man driving erratically on Sycamore.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name and age were not released.
Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives were at the scene assisting officers from the Montebello Police Department.
Since January 2007, at least 20 homicides have been reported in Montebello, according to The Times Homicide Report database. Fifteen of the victims died from gunshot wounds.
