Veteran Pasadena firefighter remembered at funeral
A 23-year veteran of the Pasadena Fire Department was to be remembered Friday at a funeral in Porter Ranch.
Firefighter Johnie Simpson died of cardiac arrest June 19 while off-duty. He is survived by his wife and a teenage son and daughter, said Lisa Derderian, spokeswoman for the Pasadena Fire Department.
Simpson was always a team player who was willing to help, and was promoted to engineer several years ago, Derderian said.
“He was a great example for a lot of the newer firefighters,” she said.
The funeral was scheduled for 11 a.m. at Shepard of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch.
