Wildfire burning in Angeles National Forest is 35% contained
Firefighters made progress overnight on a 70-acre wildfire burning in the Angeles National Forest near Glendora.
The Shoemaker fire, which is burning dry brush and chaparral, was 35% contained Friday morning, said John Wagner, a spokesman for the national forest.
Aided by helicopters, about 300 firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the U.S Forest Service worked through the night to control the blaze, which started about 12:45 p.m. Thursday in the area of East Fork and Heaton Flat.
Two firefighters battling the blaze Thursday suffered heat-related injuries.
Fire danger levels on Friday remained “very high,” according to the forest service.
