Two arrested in fatal shooting of man in Pico Rivera
A man and woman have been taken into custody in the fatal shooting of a man during a dispute Thursday evening in Pico Rivera, sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies stopped and arrested Vincent Rodriguez, 28, and Mary Bedolla, 47, on Whittier Boulevard, several blocks away from the shooting, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies found a black handgun in a nearby trash can.
Witnesses told detectives the man and the pair were walking south on Acacia Avenue about 6:28 p.m. when they got into an argument. At some point during the dispute, Rodriguez shot the man, authorities said.
After the shooting, Rodriguez and Bedolla walked away and headed west on Whittier, according to the sheriff’s department.
The victim, who hasn’t been identified, was found lying on the sidewalk near Whittier and Acacia. The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
Rodriguez and Bedolla were booked on suspicion of murder and are being held on $1 million bail.
