Two arrested in fatal stabbing in Sherman Oaks

Two male teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of another teen in Sherman Oaks in a dispute over narcotics, police said Saturday.

The two teens, who were not identified because of their ages, are suspected of fatally stabbing Jacob Koffman, 17, outside an apartment building about 6:40 p.m. Friday, police said. Koffman and one of the suspects, who was also injured in the incident, were transported to a local hospital, where Koffman later died.

The juvenile, who was released from the hospital, was later arrested and booked on charges of murder, police said. An adult suspect, identified as Ennio Avoli, 18, was arrested on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale.

The weapon, described as a folding knife, was recovered at the crime scene, police said.

Two additional male persons of interest are also being sought in connection with the incident, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the stabbing is urged to contact the Van Nuys police station at 818-374-0040. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-527-3247.
