Beverly Hills police called off their search Friday night for three men suspected of shooting a woman in her home in an attempted robbery.

The woman was shot and taken to a hospital and was expected to recover from the gunshot wound to her leg, said Beverly Hills police Lt. Renato Moreno.

Lt. Lincoln Hoshinto said the couple, described as being in their 60s or 70s, were tied up.

Police said the three suspects fled in a car and the search was later called off without them being found.

Immediately after the shooting, police were asking residents near Doheny Road and Loma Vista to stay inside their homes as they searched for suspects.

Moreno said police responded to a call reporting “unknown trouble and a shooting” about 8:30 p.m. Friday at a home in the 400 block of Doheny.

When officers arrived, they found the victim inside with a gunshot wound after a suspected robbery attempt, Moreno said.

The woman’s husband also was taken to the hospital for examination, he said.
