Dog killed, 3 hurt in Irvine car crash; drunk driving suspected
A dog died and a man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries early Sunday after they were rear-ended by another car on Irvine Boulevard, Irvine police told the Daily Pilot on Monday.
Brad Marsicano, 30, of Mission Viejo was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, Lt. Julia Engen said. Marsicano was driving a Toyota 4Runner when he rear-ended a Mazda 3 hatchback while it was stopped about 1:20 a.m. at Irvine Boulevard and Sand Canyon Avenue, police said.
A man, woman and two dogs were in the Mazda. One dog died and the 29-year-old male passenger of the Mazda suffered serious injuries while the 27-year-old female driver appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries, Engen said. Both are from Mission Viejo.
Marsicano was also injured and taken to the hospital, Engen said.
