A body that was found in the Angeles National Forest was hidden under a 20-foot tarp and decomposing, authorities said Thursday afternoon.
The Los Angeles County coroner has yet to identify the body, which was found Wednesday near San Francisquito Canyon Road five miles south of Spunky Canyon Road in Santa Clarita.
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power employees were working in the area when they noticed a “foul” odor and found the tarp 20 feet off the road, the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
Legs were sticking out from under the tarp.
The department is now investigating the case as a homicide. A cause of death has yet to be determined.
