Earthquake: 2.8 quake strikes near Malibu

A shallow magnitude 2.8 earthquake was reported Tuesday morning near Malibu, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 4:30 a.m. PST at a depth of 5 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 6 miles from Malibu.

In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
