Reader Photo: Heels up Hollywood
Several weeks ago, Colleen Riemer was walking in a Hollywood parking garage on Cherokee Avenue between Yucca Street and Hollywood Boulevard. A longtime fan of classic cars, she immediately noticed one parked on the ground floor behind a spiral of 31 suspended bronze shoes ascending up and around a glass elevator.
The shoes, better known as the sculpture “Ascent” by artist Kim Yasuda, is an homage to Tinseltown’s rich filmmaking history.
As Riemer stopped to take the picture with her iPhone 4, she noticed how the bronzed heels from the installation seemed to be walking right off the hood of the car. Both seemed “to belong together, preserved and oblivious to time,” Riemer said.
