The glider crash that killed two people Saturday in eastern San Diego County occurred just seconds after takeoff, according to the county medical examiner.

The unpowered airplane was being towed aloft at the Jacumba Airport when the tow wire was released at about 100 feet. The glider lost control and nose-dived into the ground.

Killed were Richard Noble, 63, and Martin Rothwell, 54, both of San Diego, the medical examiner said.
