Boy, 12, dies after collapsing while playing at middle school
A 12-year-old boy died after collapsing while playing during a lunch break Tuesday at a Riverside County middle school, authorities said.
The boy was playing at Vista Heights Middle School in Moreno Valley about 12:20 p.m. when he collapsed, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
School personnel were performing CPR on the child when law enforcement authorities arrived at the school in the 23000 block of Old Lake Drive.
The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died, department authorities said in a statement.
Authorities said the boy had a medical condition, which may have contributed to his death. They did not elaborate on the condition.
There were no visible signs of injuries, authorities said. The incident is under investigation.
