Readers React: Bush and Cheney live comfortably while a single Navy SEAL is on trial for alleged war crimes

To the editor: Navy SEAL veteran Edward R. Gallagher faces war crimes charges for the alleged 2017 murder of a single enemy combatant in Mosul, Iraq.

I find this action ludicrous and sadly laughable when, at the behest of the leaders of our government, and based on misinformation and false pretenses, the U.S. military bombed and invaded a sovereign nation in 2003, which led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians (according to the medical journal Lancet) while millions more were displaced.

As the architects of the Iraq war, President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney comfortably live out their lives, while one soldier will bear the weight of all of their sins.
