Huntington Beach police chased a stolen car and arrested four people inside after the group tried to flee Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

An officer tried to pull over the vehicle near the intersection of Fifth Street and Pacific Coast Highway at about 4:45 p.m., but the car didn’t stop, police said.

Police said they chased the car until it crashed into another vehicle on Atlanta Avenue.

Four people in the car got out and tried to flee, but two of them were taken into custody immediately, police said. An officer confronted a third suspect, who was arrested after a short altercation, police said.

The fourth suspect ran through the yards of several homes near Huntington Street and Baltimore Avenue before police caught up and took the person into custody, according to authorities.

The driver of the stolen car was injured in the crash and taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, according to authorities. The driver of the other vehicle was not hurt, police said.

Police have not identified any of the suspects as the investigation continues.

Authorities said they think the fourth suspect may have dropped evidence — possibly including a weapon — while running from police. They asked that anyone who sees something suspicious call (714) 960-8811.
