Three keys to the Ducks’ 5-2 victory over the Predators:
1.) Frederik Andersen kept the Ducks in the game early and has allowed three goals in three games. “There have been pockets of time where you just know nothing is going to beat him unless it’s something he can’t see,” Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau said.
2.) The Ducks maintained their composure. James Neal tried to rattle Anaheim all afternoon with a near-post-whistle hit on Jakob Silfverberg, a shove of Corey Perry into the net and an end-of-second period scrum. Anaheim didn’t retaliate and got two power plays out of it.
3.) Ryan Kesler won 24 of 30 faceoffs to help Anaheim kill three penalties. “He’s taken the first draw on a penalty, that’s usually going to mean a clear, and when you start clearing pucks, it frustrates the other team,” Boudreau said. “They have to skate 200 feet all the time.”
