Football: Chaminade-St. Francis game has seeding implications

Share

The Mission League game on Friday night between St. Francis (8-1) and host Chaminade (7-2) has big-time playoff implications in the Western Division.

The winner is expected to get the No. 2 seed behind No. 1 Gardena Serra. The loser will likely drop to No. 4 seed and have to face Serra in the semifinals.

St. Francis is coming off a 35-21 loss to Serra and turned in a much better performance against the Cavaliers than Chaminade, which lost, 36-0.

“They’re good,” Chaminade coach Ed Croson said of the Golden Knights. “They are hard-nosed guys.”

With its poor performance against Serra, Chaminade has some work to do to regain respect. Quarterback Brad Kaaya, who suffered an injury against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame on Oct. 4, appears to have regained his health, and that’s one key to the Eagles’ offense.
