Baseball: Jack Flaherty is Gatorade state player of the year

Jack Flaherty, the Harvard-Westlake pitcher who is 10-0 this season and hasn’t lost a game on the mound since the last game of the 2012 season, has been named the Gatorade state player of the year in baseball. It makes him eligible for the national award.
He finished the regular season with an 0.69 ERA. He opened the playoffs last week with a no-hitter.
He was 13-0 last season when he was named the Southern Section Division 1 player of the year.
He has a 3.36 GPA, signed with North Carolina and could be a first-round draft pick next month.
