Standout senior guard Tyler Dorsey of Pasadena Maranatha didn’t get selected for the McDonald’s All-American Game, but he received another prestigious honor on Friday when it was announced he has been named the Gatorade state player of the year.
He averaged 34.3 points and 10.4 rebounds in leading Maranatha to a Southern Section 4A championship.
The Oregon-bound Dorsey set a school record with 52 points in a state playoff game this season. Last year, he was part of St. John Bosco’s state championshp team.
