Football: Rivals Lincoln, Wilson are set to meet in Northern League battle
- Share via
It’s almost an elimination game in the Northern League on Friday, when Lincoln (5-1) hosts Wilson (6-0). The winner will likely face off against Eagle Rock (6-0) to decide the league title.
There’s much history between these two schools. In 1977, in one of the most controversial moments in City Section history, Wilson opened a 63-0 halftime lead on Lincoln, which then declined to come out and finish the second half, forfeiting the game and causing a national debate.
Lincoln is thriving these days behind senior quarterback Gilbert Soto, who has passed for 1,120 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Wilson is led by senior quarterback Chris Perez, who has passed for 14 touchdowns.
