Thursday’s bowl games

Only one Mountain West Conference has landed in the top three in voting since 1986 and ironically that player was from San Diego State. Marshall Faulk finished second in voting to Miami’s Gino Torretta that season after leading the nation in rushing with 1,630 yards. Pumphrey rushed for a MWC-best 1,653 yards last season for the Aztecs. He also finished with a league-best 2,067 yards from scrimmage as well.
