Update: Having gained its first point of the season in a 1-1 tie at Toronto, Chivas is still seeking its first victory of 2011. “We’re good and aggressive in spurts, but we need to be more consistent over 90 minutes,” Coach Robin Fraser said. Chivas will be without forward Tristan Bowen (left ankle sprain) and midfielder Blair Gavin (left hamstring strain), while defender Jimmy Conrad (concussion) and midfielders Simon Elliott (right knee sprain) and Paulo Nagamura (left calf strain) remain questionable. Rookie defender Zarek Valentin returns to the team after playing for the U.S. in its failed attempt to qualify for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Colombia in July. Diego Chacon, a goalkeeper for the Chivas under-18 team, also returns after being with Guatemala, which defeated the U.S. in the quarterfinals to qualify for the world championship. Columbus is coming off its first win of the season, a 2-0 shutout of FC Dallas, last season’s Western Conference champion.
