AT THE PLATE: Matt Kemp hit his team-leading third home run. The Dodgers erased a two-run deficit and moved into the lead in the eighth inning, when Hector Gimenez and Gabe Kapler hit back-to-back home runs. The team with the lowest spring average of any major league team at the start of the day, the Dodgers pounded out 12 hits.
ON THE MOUND: Chad Billingsley gave up three runs and four hits over five innings, but said he was pleased with the way he threw his changeup and curveball. Former All-Star Mike MacDougal, who is in camp on a minor league contract, further enhanced his chances of making the club by tossing a scoreless inning and extending his shutout streak to 5 1/3 innings.
EXTRA BASES: Fifth-starter candidate Tim Redding gave up a run in three innings of a minor league intrasquad game. Redding, who pitched in South Korea last year, has a 3.00 earned-run average in four Cactus League games.
UP NEXT: Rubby De La Rosa faces the San Francisco Giants and Jeff Suppan in Scottsdale at 1 p.m. PDT Friday.
