GALAXY TONIGHT

at Philadelphia

When: 4:30 PDT.

Where: PPL Park, Chester, Pa.

On the air: TV: FSW; Radio: 1150.

Records: Galaxy 4-2-4, Union 4-2-1.

Record vs. Union: 1-0.

Update: Coach Bruce Arena opted not to take David Beckham to Philadelphia. “We play three games in a week and we’ve decided to rest him,” Arena said. Arena also is likely to shuffle the lineup to spell additional players ahead of Saturday night’s game against Kansas City in Carson. Former Galaxy and now Union striker Carlos Ruiz has ruffled a few feathers by declaring that the Galaxy players are not as good as they believe and “don’t do anything spectacular.” Philadelphia will have assistant coach John Hackworth on the bench because Coach Peter Nowak, 46, is in Poland to play in a charity event pitting former Polish internationals against a similarly veteran European All-Star team. The Union will have two defenders return, former Galaxy standout Danny Califf after an illness and Jordan Harvey after serving a one-game suspension. The Galaxy beat the Union, 1-0, in Carson on April 2. Philadelphia has been involved in six 1-0 games this season.
